We cater and are based in West Sussex, Providing delicious hog roast services all over west sussex. We often get asked, how much is a hog roast. This really depends on the time of year, number of guests and your menu.
Thank you for booking Mid Sussex Hog Roast to cater for your event. You should have received our booking information. Please read this through carefully and come back to us as soon as possible with the basic information required. This simply puts your name into our diary and reserves the day for you. We can do up to 4 jobs on any day so it is important that we get this information logged in the diary. All the information is on the booking form in regards to making deposit payments aswell as our basic terms and conditions which you need to agree to. When making any payment into our account please make it as obvious as possible who you are in the reference.
We have now been trading for around 9 years doing around 250/300 functions a year. All of our events are private functions, weddings, corporate and private parties. So, we have a wealth of knowledge on how to go about all of our bookings. All the chefs are handpicked and totally qualified and will also have full information of your function.
Our key concept is to arrive at any event well prepared and organised. We use our 5/5 rated catering unit / kitchen to prep foods in advance and generally be ready for your event.
Below are some of the FAQ’s. Please have this to hand throughout the time you are booked with us as you could use this to perhaps answer any questions you have.
Q. When is my invoice due?
A. We will invoice your approx 2 weeks before function date. This is because numbers may change, menu choices may change.
Q. How long will you be on site?
A. This is dependant on the scale/size of the function. Generally, for standard parties/Weddings we will arrive on site 3/4 hours before
Q. How long is the hog cooked for?
A. We have a great reputation for the way our meat tastes. We believe a pig is a big animal and needs a long slow cooking. We like to ensure this is done for at least 8/10 hours. A proportion of this is done off site with the Hog continuing to cook in its whole form at your venue. (still a whole pig)
Q. Are you VAT registered?
A. Yes we are VAT registered
Q. Do you provide staff and how much?
A. Yes we provide professional and polite waitressing staff for £20ph. This can be added on to any package to serve and assist your day. We will only give you our best advice as to how many you may or may not need depending on the level of work involved. Its so simple with staff – they can simply do all the weddings duties needed for their hourly rate cost. Staff have a good general briefing about your day prior to the date and are very experienced. We will agree with you the amount needed for your day. This really depends on the foods, style of service and your plans.
Q. Do you provide crockery?
A. We use a very reliable and professional hire company in Hove called Hire All. We don't play the middle man in this and will simply advise and support you with this. You can go to them directly to arrange this. This makes the day so simple as it all gets delivered a day or so before then collected when used. Many caterers do this, some however may claim its there own but then charge you a fee. We don’t. We will totally support you with the order if needed. Ie what items are needed for the day.
Q. Do you provide disposables?
A. Yes we have a basic range of paper plates and disposable cutlery, we also have a bamboo range which is very popular for garden parties, weddings etc
Q. Do you clear away rubbish?
A. We do not take any rubbish away with us. This is the venues responsibility. We can offer further advice on this.
Q. Do you cater for Vegans and vegetarians?
A. Yes we are qualified chefs and have a number of vegetarian and vegan options. All totally home made and to impress.
Q. Do you cater for dietary requirements and guests with allergies?
A. Yes, we do, we have lots of options for this but it is down to you as the client booking to advise us of all allergies and dietary requirements. If you need any advice on this then please ask. Usually guests will know what allergies/dietary requirements they have
Q. Do you have your own equipment?
A. Yes, we are very well established and have great equipment for indoor and outside cooking. Most of which runs off gas that we supply. If you menu requires power or addional equipment we don’t have we will advise you, but this is quite rare.
